Margarito Melchor started his craft in 1971 in San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca, Mexico, represents over five decades of dedication to the intricate art of wood carving and the creation of Alebrijes. These fantastical creatures, emblematic of Mexican folklore, began gaining recognition in 1985, leading to widespread appreciation for the workshop's unique craftsmanship both nationally and internationally. Currently in its third generation, the Melchor workshop not only perpetuates Margarito's legacy but also stands as a testament to Mexico's rich artistic and cultural traditions. In a world where many age-old practices are fading, Margarito Melchor´s workshop remains a vibrant beacon of Mexican heritage and artistry.
