The word avocado comes from the Nahuatl "ahuacatl", which means "Fertility", meaning that it is the fruit of fertility. 

The earliest evidence of human consumption of avocado was found in Tehuacán Puebla, Mexico dating from 8,000 to 7,000 BC.
